John, you mention a "Millar/Gillespie group". I am very curious. My oldest Gillespie from Falkirk/Glasgow, married an unknown first wife and had a son Millar Gillespie b. abt 1830 possibly in Falkirk. In a 1864 petition to the Falkirk Poorhouse, Robert states that in 1864 Millar is a soldier.

Do you have any clues for me???

Thanks,
Gayle
My earliest is Robert Gillespie born about 1791-1796 in Falkirk to Robert Gillespie (1768) of Falkirk and Margaret Millar of Carriden. He marries about 1817 to unknown woman and has Janet, Alexander, Margaret, Millar and David. In 1842 he marries Jean/Jane Melrose and has Catherine, John, Agnes and James. James is my ggrandfather. Robert dies 1868 in Falkirk Poor House. For info on my Gillespie family

Gayle, is this the family you mention? Census entry from 1851. Everyone showing as born in Falkirk except for mother Jean:

Robert Gellispie 60, moulder
Jean Gellispie 35 b. Edinburgh
Miller Gellispie 21, son, labourer
Jean Gellispie 13
Ketherine Gellispie 8
John Gellispie 6
Agnes Gellispie 4

Address: Back Row, Falkirk

From online trees, mother Jane/Jean's maiden name shows as Melrose?

Hi Undertaker.

You are correct on both counts.

I will send a separate P.M.

Cheers,
Rob.
