Hi everyone
I have been reading all the comments about the various "Dellers" establishments. In 1960 I had my wedding reception at "Dellers" in Taunton .The original  building is still there but is now a night club, it is situated at the end of the Bridge. I can also recall going to Exeter as a young child of about 10yrs.  and having high tea in the Dellers cafe, I am sure this building is still there but it is not a cafe.   Pure nostalgia
  Happy researching Heather

Hi, I have just taken over the Lighthouse (Dellers as was in the 20's)
We are fascinated to know more of its history if anyone knows.
We are opening a cafe on the ground floor!

Congratulations on re opening Dellers. I thought it looked very sad the last time I saw it in the Autumn. Next time I am in Paignton I will look with interest.

It has not been easy to find any info. I have a photo in a book which is part of the Francis Frith collection. It has a sort of Mediterranean look about it. It can be viewed on the Francis Frith website. The other cafe, which closed in 1965 looked grand inside and out.  I remembered Dellers from my childhood in the 1950's when I lived in Plymouth. During the summer it was quite common to go on a coach trip for the day to Paignton. Lunch was always taken at Dellers.

The book with Dellers main cafe was printed by Nonsuch Publishing and obtained on a visit to Trago Mills.

Best Wishes

Sue

I'm a little late on this scene, but, looking at an old photo I saw the name "Dellars Paington". It's a photo of my late Father and his band (Jay Perryman & His Collegians Dance Band) who were playing for the Paignton Hospital Carnival Dance ( at Deller's Paington) 31st. August 1932. I know he also played regularly at the Seven Stars Hotel Totnes, they don't have records going that far back though! Thought I would just throw that into the mix, now I have to try and post this successfully!

Hi Mog, will do that tomorrow with the help of my wife. I have been looking on the net regarding Dellers and it sounds like it was quite a big part of the local scene in years gone by! It's nearly bedtime so I'll organise the photo tomorrow, thanks for your interest, goodnight.
