Hi Maryderry,

I have just done some maths on the information that you gave me.

I have Jane Sinnott nee Kirwans Death record and census for 1901.
according to the death record she died in 1930 aged 70, which would put her birth at 1860.
And then the census, she states she is 43, so that puts her birth in 1858.

my problem is that puts her too young to have had Joseph in 1868??

I previously had Mary's birth around 1873 and I had seen a baptism record for Thomas, and he was born 20 May 1885.

So now I am really confused....  ???

Any Ideas

Hi, I am trying to track down my great great grandfather, who was a Constable in the DMP around the 1890's. His name was Robert Lindsay and he lived in Dublin.  Unfortunately I live overseas, in Germany, so am unable to visit the library/records office. Does anyone know if I can access a list of policemen on line?  I am desperate for any info about Robert, he is a mystery to us.  Many thanks, Lindsay

Patrick Sinnott was a young Detective Officer who died in hospital on Christmas Day, 1892 as a result of being injured in a bomb explosion on Christmas Eve. The explosion occurred outside Dublin Detective Office, Exchange Court.

Prior to becoming a Police Officer he was a Teacher in Clonegal, County Carlow.

Lindsay,

I am pretty sure the DMP records are not on line. I suggest you contact Garda Jim Herlihy at Blarney Garda Station in Cork. He has access to DMP records, and has published a book on the subject. His e-mail address is on the attached link.
