From the USA to the UK circa 1907
« on: Thursday 16 December 04 20:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Could anyone find any information about a John Ernest Eric Pratt born somewhere in the USA about 1885, with a father Ernest Ellis Pratt.

He came to Flintshire in North Wales, and married Mary Elizabeth Shaw in 1909. We would love to know more about him.

Thanks Bob.

I think we may be looking for information on the same person!

I have a John Ernest Eric Pratt (1885-1933) married to Mary Elizabeth Shaw in 1907 in Connahs Quay, Flinthire, Wales.  I have him as either being born in Connahs Quay or Brooklyn, NY.  As you say, father Ernest Ellis Pratt--whom I'd love to know more about.

I only have a little bit of information about John.  He would be my husband's great grandfather.  I'm happy to share whatever I know.  Do you know more about his father or mother?

Hi M, and welcome to Rootschat, once you have three posts you'll be able to send a private message to Bob, in case he doesn't get otherwise notified about this thread.

What was Ernest Ellis Pratt's occupation given as on the marriage certificate, and who are the witnesses?
Do you know if there's any connection to the other Pratt marriage in 1909 in Holywell? (on freebmd as Liliam Maud but presumably Lilian Maud)

Ah, you've spotted my trouble right away.  I don't have any documentation of my own, but I'm in touch with a family member that might have some information.  What information I DO have is from family members and the LDS Family Search website.

I also try to go once a week to a genealogy library, where I occasionally have access to Ancestry.com and Ancestry.co.uk

Sorry, Bob.  I didn't mean to get your hopes up, but I just found out that it seems we both know Ann.  I'm afraid I don't have anything she doesn't already have.  Should I find anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

Hi M,

Yes Ann is my partners cousin, but I've been away from Rootchat for a while & have only just got you posts.
