Greetings to You!!!

In this message, I would like to request ANY/ALL information regarding the
~~~The McWATERS Family~~~.[move]
Husband's Name:  M.A. McWaters
Wife's Name:         Rose (Maiden Name Unknown?) Born abt 1823
Daughter's Name: Mary  born 1864
Son's Names         Unknown/Unsure???
This Family alledgedly emigrated to USA/NJ in 1868.  However, I have
no additional information.  (ie:  MA's Full First Name; Rose's Maiden
Suffice it to say, if ever there was a "Brick Wall"...this is one of mine.
Therefore, assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance.
Hi Labyrinth:
I looked at census for 1870, no luck with MA or Rose.
The 1880 census has Thomas in Harrison, county of Hudson, New Jersey.
Thomas McWaters, 52, cabinet maker, born in Ireland
wife is Mary, 53, keeps house, born in Ireland
son  Bernard, 27, carpenter, born in NJ
son  Joseph, 18, laborer,                  NJ
daughter   Mary, 16  born NJ
Will  look around some more.
Dear Pat~~~
Thank You for Your prompt reply!!!
Yes~~~the Harrison, NJ McWaters Family are MA's  Brother Thomas' Family.  I am still attempting to learn more about them as well.
I quandary is their (MA & ROSE) origin...in Ireland (I believe???)  If I didn't know that they are buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Jersey...I would swear they just didn't exist.  Giggle???
Mary McWaters was a Milliner who created hats for one or two First Ladies Inaugural Celebrations; as well as for Mrs Thomas Edison.  She is alledged to be a 'cousin' of my Great Grandfather, John J. Hassard.  You will find 2 (3)Census Reports where John Hassard & His daughter/my Grandmother resided in Mary's Home in Harrison.  In fact, my Uncle refers to Mary McWaters as "Nana".  I share this with You so that You know that I continue to do my homework!!!  Giggle!!!
Surprisingly, I havent even found the Immigration Records for ANY in the McWaters Family.  (I have attempted to spell it with 2 TT's as well???)
As You have re-presented the 1880Census report...it sparked the thought that I do not Know Thomas' wife Mary's Maiden Name.  There is another inquiry for their Irish origins.  (Marriage certificate, etc)
I really appreciate Your insight & assistance.
Hi DonnaChristine:
I looked at the CastleGarden site for Mc Waters' arrivals.
I came across this:
Rosanna Mcwaters, Occupation Spinster,  Age 30,  Sex F,  Literacy U,  Arrived 8 Apr 1850,  Origin Ireland,  Port Liverpool,  Last Residence U,  Destination USA   Plan Unknown,  Ship Ticonderoga
Also on same date and ship was:
Sophia McwatersOccupation Spinster Age 25 Sex F
The age looks about right for Rose. just wondering if she was a sister of MA.
Who knows?
Dear Pat~~~
Once again, Thank You for Your efforts in this regard.
I don't think that these "Rose" selections could be MA's Wife...emigrating because it is believed that they made their journey in 1868 when Mary was 4years of age.  It may be interesting to reSEARCH Rosanna & Sophia in consideration of her being a Sibling of MA (ie:  Census, etc.)  However, I have not had good luck reSEARCHing records for Ireland???  Do You have a suggestion???  Is there any other resource which my 'vast experience' of 4months may not have accessed???
Whispering~~~Curiously
McWaters is one of those names that could easily be mis-written by an American official trying to understand an Irish accent. Try searching variations like McW*, McWerters, McWhirters, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
Dear Pat & aghadowey~~~& ALL McWATTER's Researchers~~~
I am SURE that amid Your vast experiences in Genealogy there have been days where 'tidbits' of information seem so very abundant & seemingly Overwhelming.
Well, this passed month has been just THAT in regard to the McWATTERS Family...specifically in Harrison, NJ.
I cordially invite You to visit My Ancestry.com page LABYRINTH51 where the 'new' information has been posted.
Perhaps one of the most important pieces of information received modifies the previous belief that Mary McWATTERS was the daughter of MA & ROSE McWATTERS...while in reality, She was the daughter of MA's brother, THOMAS & His wife MARY CORBETT.  Thereinlies the true connection with the HASSARD-CORBETT Family.
One piece of information which I have learned is that THOMAS' Father, WILLIAM was a Presbyterian Minister in Ireland; but when THOMAS emigrated to US...He & His Family converted to Catholicism.  Suffice it to say, this present brand New avenues for reSEARCH???
As I now reach my One Year Anniversary in Genealogy, I do THANK YOU for Your insight & guidance in the McWATTERS quandary.  Another note is that My Uncle Richard (Park) who had posted back in 2003, passed away in Feb/2008.  Prior to His death, we spoke & I promised that I would continue to ask the questions.  I feel strongly that HE has been 'filling-in-the-blanks' & pointing Me in the right direction.  God Rest His Soul.
Hoping that You & YOurs are well.  Perhaps we can/will keep in touch again.
There are no ministers names McWatters listed in index to A History of Congregtions in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland 1610-1982. Could have been Refored Presbyterian, etc. or not had charge of a church in Ireland.
