1861/1871 Census-Nance of Padstow
« on: Monday 27 December 04 21:58 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the Nance family who lived in Church Lane and/or Church Street, Padstow in 1851.  Henry(born 1809) & Hannah(born 1816) appear as School Master/School Mistress.

William ?Edwin(1837), Lucy Mary(1840), Horatio(1849) and Alfred(1850) were born Padstow, Charles P(1842)., Thomas H(1844)., and George ?Richard(1846) were born Cardiff.

I want to find where they were in 1861/1871 as some were back in Wales by 1881.

Any information on the Nance families in the area would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks so much Casalguidi and Kris - that was quick!  Even not finding them is a help.  Jane's maiden name was Morton and the children had this for middle names.

Happy New Year.

Thanks Anjo, this is great information as this family seemed to split in all directions so are quite hard to keep track of them normally - rootschat is the best website going I think.

To Jo3,
Did you know that there is a book of letters between William Edwin Nance b.Padstow and his mother Hannah compiled by Christine Morton Nance?.It is titled 'Padstow in the Mid-Nineteenth century'.I saw new copies being sold in Padstow but I bought mine second hand.Hannah mentions the death of my g.g.g. grandfather John Brewer.

Cheers

Random Fact. Edwin Nance was a witness to my forth great grandparents Marriage. Henry Thomas Hawkey and Mary Pearse. She was a School mistress and lived on church street also. I am having trouble finding her Parents. She was born abt 1805 in Padstow.

Thanks

Not quite sure why you are interested in Edwin Nance?

Cornwall OPC Database has this baptism:
24 September 1801 at Padstow
Mary Pearce, daughter of William & Nancy Pearce
