What happened to James Warburton
« on: Saturday 03 November 07 21:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Can any body help.
I have a James Warburton in the 1861 census in Overton Ref RG9/1891 fol86 page4.
His wife, Jane Warburton, died 16th June 1862 aged 67 at Overton.

I have the record of James Warburton's baptism, marriage, 1841 census, 1851 census &1861 census.

Can anybody help me find the record of his death or his entry in either the 1871 or 1881 census.
I must be missing the obvious but what is it!!!
Regards
Brian

Hi Brian
According to the NBI Jane was buried at St. Mary's Tilston on 20th June 1862. She was 67.  That is if I have the correct Jane Warburton.

I don't know how old your James was, but there is a burial for a James Warburton at St. Edith Shocklach on 29th May 1861.  He was age 77.

According to my map book Tilston is not very far away from Shocklach.

Hope this helps in some way.
Kind regards
Su

Hi Su,
Thanks for that but I am now even more confused.
The James Warburton I am after was aged 54 according to the 1861 census, although in 1851 he was 48.
I had assumed that James died after his wife Jane as on Jane's death certificate she is described as 'wife of James Warburton' and not 'widow of James Warburton.
I have found the GRO index reference for James Warburton's death so I will have to get a copy of the certificate and see what it says.
Many Thanks
Regards
Brian
