It fits so far in that I have Joseph's parents as Thomas (1714) and Lydia nee Bray (1715)  who married 1741.

Before that its a bit sketchy but I tentatively had Thomas's parents as Joseph & Mary nee North who married 1694 in Almondbury and had no less than 13 children starting with Mary in 1695 and including a John in 1708. All the children were baptised in Almondbury parish and the 1714 baptism for Thomas gives his father's abode as Villa which I figured out was only about a mile from Holmfirth.

I think the above is right but I'm open to other ideas.
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Thanks -I'll check it out this weekend.
I also had an extra generation and slightly different dates.
Thomas 1721 married 1749 to Lydia Bray
and then Lydia (bray) Boothroyd m James Binns
Brother of Thomas 1721 was "my" John Boothroyd (1729-1787)
who married Mary Swallow in 1751 then
William 1754-1792 m Elizabeth Dixon then
John 1791-1829
This John Boothroyd m married twice
second m to Nancy Butterworth 1821
Their daughter Lydia married Matthew Henry Broadhead in 1848
MHB was my g grandfather -all Holmfirth/Wooldale/ Wool Cloth Manufacturers

Hi.
Just a bit of information about Holmfirth which may help if you are going either backwards or forwards with your research. The village is split by the river Holme, which is also a parish boundry, the parishes being Kirkburton, south of the river and Almondbury north of the river. The village was also split between three townships, Wooldale and Cartworth in Kirkburton parish, and Upperthong in Almondbury parish. Huddersfield & District FHS have census and P.R. transcriptions available for all of the above.
 Regards
