help with photo please

My father was in the navy in WW2 but his service record just shows that he was on combined operations, but I've found this photograph which looks like a landing craft and he has written a couple of the names of the men on board as well as the place which was Taranta, which I believe to be in Italy.
Can anyone help me by looking at the photo of the landing craft and tell me if there is anyway in identifying the ship it belonged to.
