St Michaels Dumfries MIs
« on: Monday 31 December 07 12:33 GMT (UK) »
Is there any information on MIs for the graves at St Michaels?? I have found this link:

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/%7Edfsgal/Dumfries/St%20Michael%201/index.htm#top

But was wondering if there is anything more comprehensive on the net or otherwise.

Thanks

T

Hi,

I don`t know if there is anything on the net, but the Dumfries Archive Centre has quite a few M I`s of St Michaels. Perhaps if you e-mail them with a specific query they may be able to help.

Good Luck

I have a copy of the inscriptions if I can be of help.   Let me know who you are looking for and I will look it up for you.   The inscriptions were published in a book many years ago.
Brown, Murray, Copland, McGinely, Walker, Scott Telford, McKinnell, Crosbie, Kirkpatrick.

My line is from Grace's sister Margaret.

Hi Sparkle

I have been doing a family tree for my friends husband and his line is from Grace she was his 2x great grandmother and one of Graces Grand daughters Jane Brown Creasy married into my Husbands family line as i live about 10 mins from St Michaels church during the week I will phone the minister and see if he can tell me exactly where the plot is and I will go and have a look at it and see if I can get an inscription from the head stone

Hi,

I have a copy of Memorials of St Michaels by William McDowell, dated 1876, but unfortunately there's no mention of Margaret in there - surprising as her death certificate clearly says she's buried there.

Incidentally, I am descended from Grace Neisham's brother Thomas! (although I have her mother as Margaret Adamson, not Anderson...)

Ian

Hi Ian

Its Adamson I have checked and rechecked all the certificates I have but as you know the information was only as good as the people giving it at the time its like her daughter margaret she had twins Elizabeth and Thomas it took me ages to find them then bingo they are with her in the 1871 census when she married William robson but they are under Douglas but the birth certs state clearly the were Illigitemate its taken me some sorting out to get everything matched up as some of the details on some certificates are wrong
