Joseph DAVIE - where to start?
« on: Wednesday 02 January 08 21:44 GMT (UK) »
Joesph Davie was a Corporal in Sappers & Miners. Medical Discharge Papers (1836) say he was born in 1795 'in or near town of Armagh, Parish of Armagh, County of Armagh'. ari123

Hello ari123,

What denomination was Joseph Davie? Was he a member of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), a Methodist or a Presbyterian?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

I don't know what denomination Joseph DAVIE was. All I knowis that his daughter was baptised in Church of England in Woolwich, England in 1817. Although she was known by her mother's surname. Barbara.
