Did anyone know the commercial hotel in sanquhar??

Whilst browsing a famous auction website, I came across this:

I'm not at all interested, but its cheap and maybe a nice bit of memorobilia for someone interested in the County Hotel/Commercial.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply to your post but I was scared in case I lost my bid on Ebay! Thank you so much for posting about the memorobilia of the Commercial Hotel. I managed to acquire both the letters about the Commercial Hotel and from John Copland who leased the Hotel.He was my great great grandfather and his son ran the Hotel until about 1914. I have just come back from researching the family and the Hotel so this will greatly add to my family history research.

It was also my first time using Ebay and I am so glad I was successful with my bid.

don`t know if you still visit this site.....but I am just beginning to research into my family tree.  I was born in 1953 and my uncle (Dan Maclaclan ) owned the County Hotel on the High Street in Dumfries. he was married to my dad`s sister I have been trying to find any old photographs of the hotel as an established business but so far have been unsuccessful I have a wonderful photo of my mum,dad, uncle and aunt at a dinner dance there.

Would be very interested in any information you might have. I am going to Dumfries in the nest couple of weeks ( not been for a good few years ) so will try to see what I can find out. By the way my cousin used to work at the museum but dont know if he still does 1

They are really helpful in the Library and in the Archives in Dumfries too.
