We have hill linked to earlestown, my great grandma, Lillian Hill, think they were from ashton though

The district was named after     
Sir Hardman EARLE, 1st Bt. (1792 to 1877)
He was created 1st Baronet Earle in 1869

It became the town centre of Newton Le Willows (aka Newton in Makerfield) when the market moved there, to a purpose built market square, from the former location on the High Street (A49) - it also has its own railway station, as does Newton le Willows (two in one small town!)
