1851 census lookup request for Leicester - MATTHEWS
« on: Thursday 06 January 05 17:31 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone please have a go at finding an individual on the 1851 Leicester census?

I've found a reference to a ROSS MATTHEWS buried in Leicester's Welford Road cemetery in October 1856, aged 33. I would very much like to locate him on the 1851 census, when I guess he would have been 27 or 28.

I would particularly like to know where Ross was born, and any details of family members. Unfortunately, I have no information on his possible address.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Steve

Thanks a lot for that, Mike. I'm not aware of a middle name for him. It's just that Ross seems to have been a distinctive family name for this particular branch of the Matthews family I'm trying to trace. They were from Ireland, and I'm not sure where they all dispersed to.

Many thanks for trying,

Steve

When he died, he was receiving an army pension - ex St Helena Corps. Date of death given as 29th October 1856.

He was in Ireland in 1839 and may not appear on the 1851 census.
