Birch Family
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 18:02 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Birch to a mary around the 1790's.  My direct ancestor is their daughter Winifred Julia Birch who was christened along with her sisters at Chetwynd in Shropshire. Winifred (or Julia as she is on the census' married Peter Willington.  I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.  Ruth J

Presumably these are the children:

Elisabeth Birch
Christening: 20 APR 1794 Chetwynd, Shropshire

Winifred Julia Birch
Christening: 03 JUN 1796 Chetwynd, Shropshire

Rosanna Birch
Christening: 08 MAR 1798 Chetwynd, Shropshire

Mary Anne Birch
Christening: 17 MAR 1800 Chetwynd, Shropshire

Any idea where they were married, nothing found in Shropshire.

Regards,

Maurice

The only one I know of at the moment is Winifred Julia, she married Peter Willington about 1825 at St.  Peters Wolverhampton.

Are you researching these too?

The nearest place that I can find a marriage is over the county border in Staffordshire:

Thomas Birch and Mary Bond, Abbots Bromley*, Staffs , 27 April 1789

It might be them - worth exploring  :-\

Gadget

* just to the east of Stafford and Newport

Added - scrub this - the staffs pair were having children in Abbots Bromley at the same time as the ones in Shropshire:(

My Grandfathers sister married Benjamin Birch, they ran a pub in Wellington around 1890.  No link to your Birch ?   fred
