Is anyone aware of the following weblink belonging to Jersey Heritage
www.jerseyheritagetrust.org/occupation_memorial/historybook/occupationhistory-index.pdf?  In particular does anyone have a copy from which they could check for me the entry pertaining to Heinrich Bodeker.  I am look for a Heinrich Wilhelm Michael Bodeker who was a watchmaker, jeweller and goldsmith in Kent from 1850, having come, the family believes, from Hamburg or Helgoland, until his death in 1864.

I would be most interested to learn if he stopped off in Jersey and set up shop there as well.

The Heinrich Bodecker mentioned in this book looks to have been a minister in Germany during WW2 so is not the person you are looking for.

Thank you, both, for responding to my initial posting.  Thank you, also, for posting the link to the actual 'occupation history' book.  I've now had a look at the relevant section - interesting that that Heinrich Bodeker was a Protestant. 

I guess the 'history' part of the title, combined with a scant index entry had me indulging in a little wishful thinking! 

For you, Stewart, it appears that the book's title is actually

The British Channel Islands under German Occupation 1940-45 by Dr. Paul Saunders, ISBN 0-9538858-3-6

Oh well, one more rock I can cross off the list, under which to look.
