Bray family Wedding in Shropshire 1841-1845
« on: Wednesday 12 January 05 19:16 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone check for a William Bray (b.1821-1823ish) and Hannah married between 1841 and 1845.Both born and bred in Old Park and Dawley. Can't find wedding for them so far. Coming to the conclusion that they might not have married!!!First child Noah baptised in June 1845 at Malinslee church.  Please check neighbouring areas although didn't move out of Dawley once children were born. William was a coal miner and could have worked away, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, but couldn't imagine them marrying away from home but is a possibility.
Wanted to know Hannah's maiden name if possible.
Many thanks,
You're a genius if you can find it!!

Hi Alison

I had a look on FreeBMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl for the marriage and the only William Bray marriage was 1890 in the district of West Bromwich.  The index is not complete yet though, so a lot of entries will still be missing.

However, I did find Noah's birth on the site:

Surname  First name(s)    District  Vol  Page

Births Jun 1845

BRAY  Noah    Madeley  18 97

If you request his birth certificate with this information you will, of course, get his mother's maiden name which will then make the marriage search much easier.

You can request the certificate online from the GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Hope this helps.
