Morning everyone,

Thanks very much for the replies.  Doesn't it lift your spirits when you find a way though to some new info?

Does the little green icon underneath your name indicate that we can e-mail personally?  I'm new and not sure without reading carefully (just being a bit lazy here, but it IS Sunday!)

Carmel, we can compare notes if you like and I'll also wait to hear from Marshall.

Thanks again, cheers,

Joan

Joan

Yes you can send a PM(personal message) by clicking on the green icon. I think though that you have to have made 3 postings before you are allowed, so you must be there or thereabouts by now.  Hope the contacts you make help to breakdown some of you brickwalls.

good luck

Hi Jon, as you have seen, have made some new contacts who are definately related.  Great eh.  Including my family line, thats 3 lines of descendants out of 6 members of the same family now in contact with each other. (did that make sense to you?).  Still awaiting contact from any descendants of the other 3 members of that family.  Havent heard a word from the generations above or below the one in question, though.  I didn't know i had relatives in New Zealand.  I remember that i did write to a Hayling chap in the Bahamas some time ago, but at the time we couldnt find a direct link.  Maybe we can in the future.  I fancy a visit there. lol.  yes its going well, still learning more about the family.
Did u ever find out why that Hayling family tree was in your old papers?
good luck with your own research.  keep in touch. Marshall Hailing

Hailing(s)

Hi,

My name is Naomi Sands. I live in the Bahamas. My maiden name is Hayling. My Dad was Edward Hayling. He was born in Dursley, Gloucestershire on April 28th, 1939. We can trace the Hayling side back to Philip Hayling (my paternal Great Grandfather) who married Ada Florena Gwilliam. Don't know the date of their marriage but it must have been around the late 1890's. My paternal Grandfather Bert (Bertie) Hayling had 7 siblings:William, George, Louise (died when she was young), Christopher (went missing), Daisy, John and Phyllis. As far as I know they lived in the Cheltenham area. Bert (Bertie) Hayling was born on May 4th, 1911. Have you ever heard of this particular line of the Hayling family? Unfortunately, my Grandfather Bert lost track of most of his siblings over the years and I would dearly love to find some of their descendants.
