Mystery of the Mungo Family in Liverpool
« on: Monday 21 April 08 19:49 BST (UK) »
A very unusual surname and I still can't find them!!

John Mungo (1842-1911) and his wife Diana (nee Brown) (1841-1900) had six children James 1868, John 1873, Archibald 1875, Alexander 1876, Jane 1880 and Agnes 1872.

Can't seem to see them after 1901 census, when the family were at 21 Romeo Street, Kirkdale.
A relative Rebecca Jones married Alexander in 1903 but then seem to have disappeared.

Can somebody solve the mystery for me?

Hi Tall Al,

I'm not sure where you are expecting to find them after 1901 - we don't have easy access to the 1911 census yet - it's not easy to research in the 20th century!

Here's some clues from a 1911 Directory:

Mungo Alexander 22 Juliet Street, Kirkdale
Mungo Archibald  100 Bardsay Road, Walton
Mungo John. porter, 35 Downing Road, Bootle

Thank you both ShaunJ and Doreen,

I have found some information from BMD's on Ancestry but it only helps slightly.
I am particularly interested in Alexander at Juliet Street.
Do either of you know if any family is mentioned - for example a wife  - Rebecca, or perhaps children?

Hi ShaunJ,

Yes - I have seen the details you have shown and pieced together part of the tree but the main missing link is Alexander 1876 - can't seem to find him or his family and he is principally the one I want to find!
Alexander b1905 belongs to Archibald 1875 and his second wife Martha - he married her after his first wife Lillie H died in 1901.
I have yet to establish who James Allan 1910 belongs to.

Thanks again for your help - it is much appreciated
