Hi,
There was a family by the surname of Rhodes who lived on Kingsley Crescent in Stonebroom. I don't know if they are still there. I used to deliver newspapers to them in the 80's.

Hello, although my line left with my granddad there were still Rhodes families living there.  It's possible they are connected to my Rhodes family.

Hi, New here and just found your mention of Stonebroom. My grt, grt grandfather Robert Rayworth used to own the grocery store and post office in Stonebroom, then my grt grandfather took over on his death. I would love to hear any information anyone has on the Rayworths or Stonebroom.
And yes...Stonebroom does seem to have been just one long street, not sure if the grocers shop is still there, I live in Cornwall now, too far away.
On researching the Rayworth's history, I found my grt grandfather John Manning Rayworth and his future wife lived opposite each other, Rayworth's ran the grocery store, my grt grandmother Ethel Morley's family ran the bakery.

My wife's mother was a Rayworth, her Uncle Bill Rayworth was born in Stonebroom in 1876.  Bill's father was William Rayworth b. Bleasby, Notts 1842 and a younger brother was Robert Rayworth b. Thurgaton 1845.  Robert ran a grocers in Stonebroom.  William's family only lived in Stonebroom a couple of years or so in mid 1870's.  William & Robert's parents were Alexander Rayworth (Raworth) and Sarah Rayworth nee Ross.  Sarah was known as Grandma Ross, we have a nice photo of her when she was 80. The Ross family lived in Thurgaton. I tried to attach the photo but was unsuccessful.  Let me know if you'd like a copy and I will remove the captions which may have been the problem.

Oh how wonderful, yes I would just love to see the photo of Sara. What was your wife's mother's name. I have done quite a bit of research on the Rayworths and got as far back as Alexander and Sara [Ross] but could get no further. Robert Rayworth who ran the grocers in Stonebroom is my direct line.
Was it William's side of the family that moved to Yorkshire. If you cant post the photo, could you please send it in an email as attachment. My email is (*). Mny , many thanks.
