Hi,

My grandmother was called Amy Hazell born in Walworth. Her father was James Hazell, as was his father and grandfather.

James born 1808 in Bergholt was married to Rebecca and possibly her sister Mary Ann Pung.
My great grandfather parents were James and Mary Ann Pung.

I feel your family is connected to mine, is that likely?

Thanking you

Jan

Hi Jane,

After reading your mention of the name Pung I noticed another mention of that name on the Suffolk board.

Hi Jan
Well, so out of the blue.
Have been wondering where Pung thing came from. This does indeed sound like there is a connection.  My family goes down through George Pung Hazell[1845 - 1877, he was one of James [ the 1808 one] children.
I have so far not found out anything about your James, ie George Pung's brother. But have info on Frederick Thomas H. family and a little on Alfred Pung H. There are 3 girls i have not managed to track down from James' [1808 james] brood.
bye for now   Jane

Thank you for getting back to me.

I first started work on the Hazells (then Pungs) a few years ago. But what with work etc I haven't done any research etc for ages. Just recently I've had a serge and I'm interested in my tree again.

To my knowledge and I could be wrong, James was married to Rebecca Pung. They had children together.
He then moved to Walworth (Southwark) with Rebecca's sister Mary Ann Pung. They had at least one child together  thus being my great grandfather. Both ladies claimed to be James widow, but I don't think he married Mary Ann. Well he couldn't have because it was illegal to marry your wifes sister in those days. tee hee.

I will take a look on Genes Reunited and request to view your tree if that is ok. There is another gentleman on Genes researching the Pungs, but I don't think he has the information quite correct.

Still, it has been great to make the connection.

Jan
