*Completed-with Thanks* Philip Graham & Margaret Mudie Brodie
« on: Sunday 14 September 08 21:06 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to confirm the marriage of my G.Grandfather Philip Graham to Margaret Mudie Brodie in 1900 (Dundee).

I know he was born approx 1874 and Margaret approx 1879.

I would like to confirm, using their marriage details, that Philip's parents were William Graham (Born 1834 Scone) and Helen Thomson (Born 1839 Lochee).

Maybe someone has some info that can help to confirm this ?

Thank you.

Hi brodie5,

I just checked Scotlands People and this couple did in fact marry in Dundee in 1900.  You can view the actual marriage certificate details on Scotlands People where you get the date and place of the marriage as well as their addresses at the time of marriage and you can also download the actual certificate which would confirm the names of both sets of parents.

Thanks for checking for me Betty :-)

I will be brave and join "Scotlands People".

I've got another 4 marriages to check so i'm sure it will be very useful.

Thanks again.

Hi again brodie,

If you register on Scotlands People when you buy credits it costs £6 for 30 credits, to search cost nothing but when you want to view something either a Birth, Marriage or Death this will use 6 credits therefore if you are careful then you can have 5 images of either Births, Marriages or a Deaths certificate for your £6.

Betty,

Thanks for the tips regarding "Scotlands People".
I have joined and have viewed the relevent marriage certificate.
The certificate shows that I am following the right ancestral line (so far !) and i have the right details for the previous generation (yipee).

Thanks for all your help  :)

Well done Brodie,

I am glad you managed to find the marriage on Scotlands People and it was the correct one too.

Scottish marriage certificates are great you get both sets of parents for the bride and groom.  English marriage certificates only give the fathers names.

Just wait until you are looking for a birth certificate, they give the parents marriage date, which is great too.

So way you go girl!! or as you say yipeee!!! :D
