Granmothers records
« on: Sunday 30 January 05 14:11 GMT (UK) »
looking for personal records of my Grandmother ,she turned to the North Wales Association for friendless Girls
in 1919 and they were of great help to her.

I would like to find the personal details she gave them but have no idea who would have these in there archives,
any ideas?

Hi Valerie,

Had a quick search on Google & finally found the following link:

http://hen.gwynedd.gov.uk/adrannau/addysg/archifau/Rhagorol/cgi-bin/listarchive.pl?archiveid=12&parentid=29964

(this is the online Gwynedd archive)

fourth entry down is "North Wales Association for the Protection of Friendless Girls and Women " !!! If you click on the linked ref number, it will take you to a page full of info !!!

Good luck

Hi Valerie,

Yes, I noticed that bit about the 100 years - since the Freedom of Information Act came in recently, I'm hoping for your sake that it will mean that the records are now opened !

Fingers crossed
Chris

Hi Chris

Had a reply from the Gwynedd council today , no luck they have got the records but its written in such a way that no names are mentioned just something like a domestic servent ect.

Just my luck the 1920 April to March 1921 annual report is missing but  i dont think it would reveal much looking at the other stuff  thats written.

I cant belive they did'nt use any names .

Any way thanks for help

Valerie
