Hi Nicky

Thanks for that info.  I have traced the family back to the late 1700's.  It's quite a story!!  I'm sure that's the reason not many of us are searching for the family!!!!

William's father John Jenkinson, was mayor of East Retford 1880 and was a silversmith, and stockbroker.  He left Retford in 1884 with a bancruptcy order following him!  Left his wife to deal with things, whilst he set up shop in Chicago (he took with him £50,000!) sending for Frederick Shelley and Annie C Thompson, (his wife drowned/committed suicide in the River Trent at Newark) who he married in Chicago!

I know that William Edward Boon Jenkinson visited his father around 1902/03 (he'd been naughty again and was up for libel and assult!!!) as I have a newspaper article.

John's brother Edward Bennett Jenkinson lived in Swinton in Rotheram and was a photographer and bone collector!  He found the remains of a woolly mammoth!

Hi Marion

Old topics never get deleted and family contacts are made here over and over again, sometimes 10 or more years have passed.

It's a shame when we find out that email addresses have changed and contact can't be made.

Fingers crossed.

Hi,
I also have Jenkinson in my family, my grandmother was Constance Mary Jenkinson daughter of William and Charlotte.   I have information that I obtained over 10 years ago and have recently revisited this side of my family.  As you mention a very interesting family.  Would you be prepared to share your research.  Verity
