Hi Wortle,

I know this is a major long shot considering this thread is years old now but i'll ask anyway. I am looking for information on the same people as you are, Herbert born in 1855 is my great great grandfather. However i have hit a brick wall with finding further information about him and his wife and their child Herbert Ernest, who is my great grandfather and moved to Ireland sometime in the early 1900's. Can you let me know if you have found anything of significance about these people or could you point me in the right direction to maybe find some info about them?

Many thanks

Hi, well I'm about and logged in OK. I havent worked on this for years and can't remember a thing. My stuff is all archived and I had a hard drive dump my back ups so would have to start over from paper records. PPM me in about 6 weeks when I MAY be able to dig it all out from storage (house move coming up)

Hi Wortle,

Wow that was quick. I really wasnt expecting much of a reply by putting that up. Thanks for getting back.

If its any hassle at all please dont put yourself out for me, i completely understand that your probably up to your eyes with a house move. If you get a chance at all to look stuff up that would be great. I'll give you a PPM in a few weeks and see how you are in terms of time.

Im almost 100% sure that these people are my great great grandparents and their son Herbert Ernest is my great grandfather. The reason i was looking for this stuff was because my father made mention of either Herbert or Herbert Ernest being involved in the 1916 Rising in Ireland in some fashion and judging by the ages of both men it was probably the son, but i cant get my hands on any army information regarding either man. Its very frustrating as im sure you know too well after looking at most of your posts regarding this subject on this site.

Thanks so much for getting back

Herbert was in the army from what I recall. Cant think that he would have been involved any other way. If you have access try the army service records in the meantime?
