"Deported" - Incoming Passenger List
« on: Monday 10 November 08 17:18 GMT (UK) »
I have found a relative on the incoming passenger list from NewYork to Glasgow for 1924.  He is one of 2 names listed on a page under the heading "DEPORTED".   :oThis came as quite a shock!  Does this mean he was officially deported or could the heading used to show British citizens returning to the UK?

If he was officially deported, is there anyway I can find out why?

Thanks

Charlotte

If he was deported upon arrival in New York check www.ellisisland.org to see if there's any notation on passenger manifest for his (attempted) entry into U.S. (site covers 1892-1924).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for the link aghadowey.    He is on the Ellis Island records but was not deported on arrival, in fact it would seem he was in the US for about 10 months.
