Like Annie said, http://21stbattalion.ca is a great site for descendants of soldiers who were in the 21st battalion. If you can assertain that your ancestor was in this battalion,( by finding out the regimental number via collections canada) I advise you to get in touch with Al Lloyd who runs the website. He aims to get biographies and pictures on the website for all the members of the battalion. He has put loads of work into the site and this is reflected in the already comprehensive site.

Canadian Virtual War Memorial
« Reply #14 on: Friday 19 January 07 21:43 GMT (UK) »
Recently I found an entry on the Virtual Memorial for my Great Uncle who had served with the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment) 49th Battalion. He died on November 12th 1918 from Influenza and was buried in Auberchicourt British Cemetery,France.
There was a photograph of him on the website, so i contacted the Veterans Affairs office, in Canada to find out who had submitted the photograph.
They very kindly contacted the person, who in turn contacted me.
Turns out the submitter is my second cousin.
The website for the Virtual Memorial is www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/
Just thought i would share this success story of mine with you all.
