I am still searching for my Henry Ling. He was born according to Henry's and Fanny's family Bible in 1845, in Kent UK. His parents were John and Susannah Mary Ling. He migrated to Australia, at sometime from 1845 to 1873, when he married Fanny Caroline Siggs Croft, in Bathurst NSW. Fanny had migrated with her family from Maidstone Kent, they had many family members in Cranbrook. I believe he was related to the Lings in Wollongong, and the Kennersons in Williamstown Victoria, as the DNA agrees with this. However, he was born in 1845, and I'm sure this is correct, looking at a photo in Bathurst (1883), of Henry and Fanny and their three young children, they are both young. i really want to know where he came from, and the ship he arrived on. He had a brother George and a sister Emma, according to my aunts knowledge, maybe a woman named Fairy, cropped up, oddly enough.

I think that the father's name has been incorrectly recorded on that baptism.  In 1871 John LING, widower, aged 71 born Woolwich is with his sister Jane GATES in Plumstead.  Jane is aged 75 and also born Woolwich.  Jane LING married in 1814 to William GATES, Charlton by Greenwich, St Luke, Kent.

Jane was baptised in 1796 also at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich but her parents were named as Benjamin and Mary.  Benjamin LING married Mary CASTLEMAN at St Nicholas, Plumstead in 1795.

Thank you Dundee.

That would account for the middle name Castleman.
