Mount Royal Cem,Montreal,Act of Kindess
« on: Saturday 17 January 09 09:48 GMT (UK) »

Hello everyone. I am new to posting on this site but already I have experienced fantastic support from one of your members who has kindly suggested a posting here.
Can someone help please?

I know that my Great Aunty, Florence Mabel Connor is buried at the Mount Royal Cemetery,Montreal.
I want to trace living relatives who may still be attending the grave, hopefully, my fathers' cousins, who were twins.

Having hit a brick wall, I am ever hopeful, that a member may be willing to print off a letter to the family and leave it at the headstone, subject to approval from the Cemetery.

I do have the grave number.

I would welcome any support or suggestions from your members please, especially those in the Montreal area.

Best wishes and many thanks,

Tracey, Liverpool, UK

It is also a bad time of the season as there is so much snow right now.  :P

DannyBou is right.
The snow should be gone by Easter.

Hi Tracey...might be able to find some contemporary family members in the Drouin collection of BMDs...what was Florence's maiden name, who did she marry, and what year?

What part of Montreal did she live in?

Interesting that Connor is a rather Irish Catholic name (it seems to me) but Mt Royal is a Protestant cemetery...

Cheers,

Thank you for you suggestions ChinaKay, kind of you and others to try to help me.
I had obtained some information from the Drouin collection of BMDs but I just cannot find anything else about the children.
Here is what I know, Florence Mabel Connor maiden name James married 5/12/1936 to Denis C Connor and had two children ( dont think I can post their names etc because they may still be living) but they were born (twins) 04/08/1937.

I do know the family lived, until 1982, at 1960 Hanover Church near to Mount Royal Cem but this address no longer exists.

I have written to the Mount Royal Cem again, to see if any family members are attending the plot for my great aunty Mabel, but they still have not replied.

It is my fathers 70th birthday on the 17th May and it has always been a dream of mine to find his cousins in Canada.  What a great present for him if I can do it.

Must try harder!!!!!!

Just wanted to wish you well in your search.  My father is 70 in April, which is why I am doing (or is that trying to do ???) exactly the same thing :)

Thanks for that Lynda.

I wish you all the look in the world because I know how frustrating it can be.

But if ancestry research teaches us anything, our fathers won't always be here and so the effort now is so worth it.

Take good care and I hope your dad has a great birthday.

Tracey

Not sure if it's any help at all, but Hanover Road is alive and well and in the same place it always was...except it isn't in Montreal. It's in Town of Mount-Royal, locally known as TMR...it's near Montreal but not in Montreal.

But Mabel Connor doesn't seem to be in the phone book...

Cheers for now,
