* COMPLETED * WHYTE Family of St. Catherine's by the Tower (18th century)
« on: Wednesday 21 January 09 15:17 GMT (UK) »
Could someone (Karen Shaw perhaps?) please check the parish records of St. Catherine by the Tower for members of the WHYTE family.

I know of:

John Whyte, a cutler of 33 St. Catherine's Street, who had three daughters and a son and died around 1810 (will proved 1811).

Mary was supposedly born on 18 August 1756. Her siblings were James, Susannah and Catherine.

It would be nice to identify John's wife (marriage record would be fabulous) and birth/baptism dates his/their children.

Many thanks,

Justin

Hello Justin

Apologies for the delay.

The following are all I can find for St Catherine's:-

Baptisms 1584 - 1685.

07 Nov 1591 Thomas s. of Thomas Whyte

Marriages 1584 - 1625

01 Aug 1585 Richard Legoe & Margret Whyte

Burials:

31 May 1597 Elizabeth the wiffe of Richard Whyte

14 Dec 1615 Robert s. of Robert Whyte

There is nothing later I am afraid.

Maybe these might tie in once you get further back.

Good Luck

Karen :))

Hello Karen,

Thank you for looking.

I must say I'm surprised and quite disappointed.

Catherine Whyte was married to a John Grave/Greaves/Graves. The IGI records a couple of Grave children that could have been theirs.

The search goes on.
