Ashton in Makerfield Modify
« on: Tuesday 10 February 09 14:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi Thanks to all your help I've been able to get back to 1881 census. John Causey abt 1845. Need help with census further back please. John's parents are John Causey & Mary Ann Monks married 1833. Mary from Plymouth Devon don't no where father John from. Believe John 1845 was publican Caledonian bolton road Ashton in Makerfield.
 Please help :)
Hi Please can you help me find info for my elderly neighbor. Her parents where Violet Irene Hill 1907 & George Arthur Causey 1905 from Ashton in Makerfield near Wigan. I found a Allan Causey on 1901 census with mother Sarah from which I found family on 1881 census. I have also found marriage of Allan to Francis Emma Holden & found here family on1881 census under Holding.  Can anyone help me prove Allan was George's father through church records or dare I ask 1911 census. My neighbor isn't very well at the moment & one of her regrets is not doing the family tree, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best thing to forge the link would be to get her parents marriage cert. this will give the names and occupations of the bride and grroms fathers, and so guide you to the right family on earlier censuses

Hi. If you look at lancashirebmd you can find Violet's marriage in  1929 and its very easy to send for a certificate from there.

They married at St. Thomas's Ashton - I was there quite recently!   I checked lancashine online parish clerk but their online records don't yet reach the 1900s.  There was one Causey mentioned - John married c1882.

I agree with liz - send for the certificate to be sure of your facts.  Regards.

Frederick            Son             6m                                       "    Golborne

I then found George Arthur's birth,
