1901 census Langside
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 21:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I was on scotlandspeople.gov.uk trying to find a William McCrindle in Langside in the 1901 census.  I noticed that Langside was not a choice I could choose from the drop-down list of locations in Glasgow or Lanarkshire.  So, is Langside grouped with someplace else in 1901 census?

Any hints welcome!

Thanks,

Kate

Have you tried Cathcart/Renfrew? or not putting in a district or county at all?

Thanks Caroline!

I think that I looked for Cathcart too... don't remember clearly now.  But I didn't try Renfrew- I will now, though.   As for no county all- I was doing a soundex search and was getting too many hits as it was.

Langside was part of Renfrew at that time ... some of it was split between Cathcart and Eastwood

Thanks!

I see by your research interest list that you are looking for Scotts in Scotland.  FYI:  The mother of this William McCrindle was Jean Scott.  She married Thomas McCrindle.

Thanks I'll keep it in mind ... the SCOTTS are on my wifes side and hail from Bute as far as I'm aware there are no McCrindles listed but its not a line I've searched too much yet.
