DENNIS family - WICKEN

Hi,

I am researching the DENNIS family from Wicken in CAMBS.

I have got back to THOMAS DENNIS b. c. 1726 who married ANN HAYLOCK in Wicken in 1751.

Interested in anyone else who is researching this family.

1.4 THOMAS DENNIS chr 6/3/1714 (Wicken) married Mary Smith 16/11/1743 (Wicken) then married Anne Haylock (5/4/1751)

This makes very interesting reading and goes back further than I have done.

I'm very interested in the William Dennis marrying Mary Staples.

I have down that she married William's brother James and they had Ann Dennis c. abt. 1800 in Soham. She was my 3x great grandmother.

I would be interested to know your thoughts.

You are quite right.  That was a typing error on my part.

William Dennis did not marry.  Mary Staples was the first wife of James Dennis. 

I have their children as
Sarah 1787
Martha 1789
Mary 1791 (my ancestor)

Also Sarah 1817, daughter of James and Hannah, a second wife

Mary Dennis married William Roberts, my dad's dad's dad's mum's dad.  But you and I are cousins, so "Hi Cousin"!

Do you have other children for James and Mary?  I have James' living variously in Soham and Wicken, and his funeral in 1834.  I can't  find anything about Mary Staples, though the IGI has a lot of Staples in Soham up to the time of her birth - she could for instance be the daughter of Robert, 1738, if he married.

There were also DENNIS' in Soham which is right next door....

I dont have an ancestral connection to them but i do have a Emma Sarah DENNIS of Soham marrying a Gtx? Uncle of mine William YARROW. They were both born at the end of the 1840s.

Ann b. 1800
George c. 1807
Lydia c. 1807
Susanna c. 1809

Sarah and Martha were baptised in Wicken, whilst the rest were baptised in Soham.
