Hi

Could anyone point me in the right direction please for an obituary for a death registered in the Cambridge reg district in December 1987.

I am looking for Stanley Barham who I believe died 17th December 1987.

Many thanks

Hi Rosie,

If there was an obituary for Stanley Barham then it would have probably been in the Cambridge Evening News back then.
I,m not to sure if the paper still trades under this name or another one but its a good place to start as they may have archives.

Hi Lyne

Thank you.  ;D
I have tried to access some Cambridge newspapers online without much luck so it looks as though I am going to have to snail mail them. I had wondered whether the Cambridge library would have them.
My mother tells me that Stanley had something to do with the Sea Scouts (or similar) and that they had named a boat after him. When I g**gle Stanley Barham I can find mention of a boat so there must be some truth in what she tells me.

Hi Rosie,

I think you are looking for my grandfather!!

The boat was named the Stanley Barham and he was heavily involved with the Sea Cadets here in Cambridge. He was married to Joan Elizabeth Evans (my paternal grandmother). They met, both serving in the navy, during the second world war.

My father is the eldest of his children - named Michael Stanley. He has three younger siblings - Penelope, Peter and Pamela.

If this is the right Stanley Barham, please do get in touch.

All the best,

Nancy Barham
