Help needed
« on: Friday 29 May 09 15:41 BST (UK) »
Hi...am looking for a census/marriage/death record for an Anastasia (Stasia or Stasin) Sullivan who was born in Bouladuffe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Ireland 1903. She is on two manifest forms on Ellisisland.org both dated 1922. The first one that went from Queenstown, Ireland she did not travel on but the 2nd one that went from Liverpool, England she did travel on and arrived there on December 18th 1922. Her intended destination was to her brother-in-law James Penny of Como Avenue or street, Buffalo, New York. Her sister Margaret married James Penny.

Any information appreciated
The surnames, which I am interested in are; Maternal side: Ryan, Kevin, Grant, Grady, Gleeson, Walsh, Dwyer, Paternal side: O' Dwyer, Woodlock, Rochford & Britton - all in Tipperary; and Kelly and Hoynes in Laois.

Ryan, Campbell, Luttrell, Grant, Grahame, Bainbridge and Brown in Queensland, Australia

Tighe in Victoria, Australia.

Grant in Philadelphia, Sullivan and Penny in New York; and Britton in Connecticut

I've found James, Margaret, and children on the 1920 Census, and likely matches for James' WWI & WWII Draft Registration cards if you need them.  Unfortunately, I don't see Anastasia anywhere.

I think I found them in Buffalo living on Edgewood Street on the 1930 census. Their surname was indexed as Renny. With the way it was written on the form I can understand why it was transcribed that way. Unfortunately there was no Anastasia with them.

There's a possible match for Theodore J. Penny on the Social Security Death Index (available for free on rootsweb.com or familysearch.org) who was born 6 Jan. 1919, died 2 Apr. 1993, and last residence in Westbury, New York.  There's a burial place for this Theodore on the military grave locator:  http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1  According to the US Veterans Gravesites database, his service began on 16 Apr. 1943.

I also found possible US Army Enlistment records and an entry on the Social Security Death Index for Robert T. Penny born 16 Nov. 1922 and died 19 Mar. 2009.  The enlistment records say he was born New York, lived in Richmond Co., enlisted on 21 Jun. 1943 in New York City, had 1 year of college, was single without dependents, and occupation was "Tinsmiths, coppersmiths, and sheet metal workers".

There's also Mark L. Penny on the Social Security Death Index who was born 31 Jul. 1929 and died 22 May 2005.  Last residence was Westbury, NY.  He also appears to be a veteran of the Korean War & buried in the same cemetery as Theodore.  I see an incoming UK passenger list for this Mark L. Penny, who was a private in the US Air Force, and going from New York to Southampton, England on the US naval ship General Maurice Rose.

« Reply #6 on: Monday 01 June 09 21:16 BST (UK) »
Hi y'all..

I have a great aunt who I cannot track any information on and I am wondering if someone could help. Her name was Anastasia (Stasia or Stasin) Sullivan from Bouladuffe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. The only records that I have of her is that she is down on two manifests on ellisisland.org..the first ship from Queenstown, she did not travel on in April 1922 but the 2nd one from Liverpool, England she travelled on in December 1922. She went to her sister and brother in law, James and Margaret Penny of Buffalo. I have got cenus information on them but it's this Anstasia that I cannot track down. She was born in 1903.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello...

Have decided to revisit this great-aunt again...am four years searching for any information for her after 1926 but nothing has come up for me. Any ideas of where else I can go from here?

Annie
