Hi,

There only appears to be one Edward Bramwell birth registered in Lancashire in the correct time frame and if you take look at www.lancashirebmd.org.uk it shows that it was registered in the sub district of Whitworth and Brandwood, Rochdale.  The earlier one Registered in Preston can be accounted for and so can later the one in Garstang.   Do you have brother Williams birth certificate?  I know it says born Newchurch but which one?.

The Rochdale Edward is not apparent on the 1861 census .....  hmm!

If it were me I would send for the certificate.

Regards,
Mo

Hi again,

Just adding to all the suggestions - I am wondering if he was born in Bacup as this did come under the Whitworth and Brandwood sub registration district of Rochdale at the time.

This is from the 1861 census of one of my lot who was living in Newchurch but born in Bacup.  The P looks more like a T.

Regards,
Mo
