Marriage about 1827 Lookup Request BROADFOOT-MORGAN *COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 08:46 BST (UK) »
I would much appreciate help with a lookup for the marriage around 1827 for GEORGE BROADFOOT and ELIZABETH MORGAN. Probably LLanddowror or Llansadurnen, Carmarthenshire. First child apprears to be born about 1828. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Morgan.    Thanks  NSWelshwoman.

Welcome to Rootschat!  ;D

marriage is listed in Llanddowror 16/11/1826 and George is of St Clears

You can get a copy of the parish entry from the record office in Carmarthen

Many thanks Osprey for that great information, none of which I had before (I am just starting out on Welsh research). I have checked the website you mentioned - most interesting also - but I am at a loss to see how I can go about purchasing a parish entry from the CRO, unless going through a research request - have I missed something here you can hadvise me on? As I live in Australia so it is not practical to visit the CRO. I was hoping I might be able to find George Broadfoot's occupation from the marriage entry, but certainly helpful to know where he was living.  NSWelshwoman

I'd try emailing them and say what you want copies of and they should give you the price. I thought I'd found an order form on that site before, but can't spot it now.

I emailed the CRO, and already have a reply to say the marriage register no longer exists, that only a transcript survives with no occupation included, however the archivist kindly checked a baptismal record and advises that my George Broadfoot was a tea dealer. What a marvellous outcome! And all within a matter of hours.

Thank you very much indeed for your help in providing the answer(s) to my query.

Is he the one that shows up on later census entries as a customs officer?
