I was married to William Arthur Bownes 1 July 1995 to 23 March 2009.  William was youngest son to Victor Charles Bownes and Jean Irene

William's Great Grandfather was my Great Grand Uncle. Did he ever mention or know why some Bones changed the spelling to Bownes ?

He said it was because people used to make fun of their family name Bones, so they put a "w" in it....I can't say for sure though x

Thanks had not heard that one before. If you are still doing your tree and need any assistance I would be pleased to help where I could.
