Angus Census Help
« on: Sunday 02 August 09 14:41 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I would very much appreciate any help on the following, if possible:

James Milne - baptised 1815 in Menmuir, Angus - married to Agnes Dargie.
He appears on the 1871 Census in Kingsmuir, Angus and the 1881 Census in Forfar. I can't however find any trace of him on the 1841, 1851 or 1861 census. Does anyone have any suggestions?

He has a daughter born in 1843 in Rescobie, Angus.

Thanks you
Jim

You're welcome  :)

I wondered if the 1851 MILL was a modern error on the Index transcript....but the 1841 is MILL too - on 2 different sources:

1841:West Walgray - Mains and Strathmartine, Angus
Parish 307, ED 2, Pg 14
James MILL 25, AG Lab - Y
Agnes MILL 25 - Y
George MILL 1 - Y
Robert DARGIE 15, - Y
Mary GREMMOND 11, F.S - Y

The 1841 can be see here (a transcription):

(Found them in 1871 - A*** transcribed James as age 39 b Kirriemuir)

That's interesting because the only marriage that I can find for James and Agnes has James down as being James Mill.

Thanks again
