Thanks scotmum.

All the Australian records I am finding (marriage and deaths of the MACK children) are saying William was a wheelwright or a coach builder.  There is no mention at all of photography.

Perhaps the William you have found the newspaper article on is a relation - cousin?? of the William who i believe to be the father of Kate, Joseph and possibly, Rose.

I'm not convinced that there is a close connection to the Macks of Coleraine.

One thing that doesn't seem to have been mentioned earlier is- what religion was Kathleen?

Which makes me even less convinced you should be looking at the Coleraine family and that you should actually be following the McKay, Westmeath link.

At least one of the online trees has a considerable amount of detail- have you tried contacting them to exchange information?

If the family were Catholic and from Westmeath you might be able to locate more information in the Parish Registers which have just come online.

Probably a red herring, but just in case, here is another Mack, allegedly born Coleraine 1879/80, whose birth dosen't seem to appear in indexes for there either:

This chap was Episcopalian though, not RC.

Even if you discover that all three Macks (or other variation) you are looking at, ie Kate, Joseph and Rose, at some point gave their birth place as Coleraine, it could just be that Coleraine was where they lived when young and so each assumed they had been born there, but weren't.

This is likely the birth registration of Albert Peel Mack- born 31 March.1880 Coleraine, parents William Mack & Margaret (Anderson) mentioned earlier in thread.

Would seem to be. It wasn't picking up when I searched on GRONI. Missed seeing your earlier mention of a 'male' entry.
