CENSUS 1841/51/61 Thomas YARWOOD 'b. Lanarkshire 1845'
« on: Friday 04 March 05 12:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can some kind friend help me?

I am seeking the family or any infomation on the following:

Thomas YARWOOD said to have been born Lanarkshire 1845, son to  John Yarwood and Sarah.

Sarah is known to have come from Carnoch, Scotland and said to have been born 1828 so was a young Mum. I 'know' nothing of this John.

I have Thomas teaching in Worcestershire with his wife and son in 1871
I have Thomas a widower and his mother Sarah a widow in Lancashire with Grandson, Walter, in 1881.

I am seeking to know where John originated, who were his parents, where they lived in Lanarkshire, what he and his father did?

Thus the Census of 1841, 1851 or 1861 might help?

Walter went on to be a Captain and we have assumed at sea, due to his fathers birth in a Ship Building area... assuming is of course dangerous... another angle suggests John may have been a boilermaker but it could be another John.

Any help / ideas or even ;-) hard facts would be much appreciated.

Hi Colin, Sorry, No sign of Yarwoods in 1861 index for Glasgow or Lanarkshire.  Checked out names index for Glasgow, Barony and Govan for 1851, no Yarwoods listed there either.

Hi Colin,
Although he was'nt in Glasgow in 1851, he may still have been in Lanarkshire then.  I don't have the index for Lanarkshire 1851, but may be able to find someone who has
I checked out the 'scotlandspeople' site for a birth for Thomas Yarwood born about 1845, it came up 'zero' the same for a marriage for a John Yarwood and Sarah, no resullts there either.
Sorry

Hi Colin,  I managed to get SKS to check out the 1851 index for Lanarkshire for Yarwood,  sorry, but there were none listed there either.
I also did a search on 'scotlandspeople' for a birth for Thomas, searched between the years 1840-1854, came up zero, also tried for John Yarwood, birth, years 1800-1830 and a marriage for John and Sarah again nothing showed up.
Sorry,
Liz
