This is from the marriage certificate of George William John Day to Martha Foreman (my great, great grandparents) All saints Church, Wiltshire  in 1843. ;D

I see from Freebmd that they married in the Westbury RD.

The only possible that's coming up at the moment on the 1841 in Wiltshire is a Maria Patty, living in Great Wishford:


HO107/116/18/7/10

George Patty, 25, woodman
Maria, 20

both b. Wiltshire

Wishford is about 25 km SE of Westbury .

It could be her. The Paty plus something else  (or even just squggles) that may not be part of the surname  :-\

I think Parkham and Parham are pretty close. There are several Maria's with a similar surname in Wiltshire. It doesn't look as if she was family. probably a close friend. I can live with that.
