just one word needed COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 10 October 09 09:32 BST (UK) »
Please, what is the highlighted word in this 1774 Will?

Leicester Esquire first I Give and Bequeath unto my
?....? Mother Ann HOTCHKIN and her assigns during her
life one annuity or yearly Rent Charge of one hundred

I believe that Ann's husband (John HOTCHKIN) had died in 1736, about 40 years earlier. I haven't yet confirmed that

Regards
Grantley

I think it might be 'honoured'. The H at the start is formed in exactly the same way as that in 'hereditaments' at the bottom right of the extract.

Thankyou Jennifer,

Looks good to me. I never thought of that descriptive word.
