Passports
« on: Monday 12 October 09 20:22 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Could you educate me please. If someone came to Australia between 1851-1861 either as an assissted or unassissted passenger would they require a passport?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Before WW1 there were few restrictions on individuals who wished to travel abroad. It was not necessary to hold a passport to leave the country.
