Quaker abbreviations in records
« on: Wednesday 28 October 09 15:19 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know what "drd" would mean in a Quaker monthly meeting record? I've looked at all the sites which explain abbreviations but I can't find it. The year is 1906, in Missouri.

Also, (while I'm here) if a person is named and the record says "rocf" (received in certificate form) and then "dtd" (dated) and a date, does this mean anything to us now doing research? I mean, is it clear to anyone what this would refer to? An Ancestry search gives this kind of info and when you click on "see full context" it gives you the same info.

I emailed a Quaker friend and she said

"I suggest that they go onto the Religious
Society of Friends website which is: www.quaker.org.uk and ask them."

I hope that it helps.

Further googling (sorry, should have done this before) I discovered a general consensus that "drd" was used in MidWest USA states in the same way as "drpd" (dropped). I'm looking at Missouri, so that fits.
If anyone is interested you can google "Quaker abbreviations drd" and find quite a long Rootsweb thread on it.
