Hello Pmint,

Do you mean George Paye left Ireland for the US or returned from US to Ireland ?
Irish Ancestors Surname Search doesn't show a Paye as head of household in Ireland during the period 1848- 64.

Finding John Paye could mean a lengthy search through the Burns families of Co. Armagh and then checking Church records to see how many of these families had a daughter named Katherine. It would then be a case of checking the records of the Churches in Armagh where Katherine Burns was baptised to see if there was a marriage to George Paye and if there was a record of John Paye's baptism. Do you know which faith George and Katherine followed ?

Best Wishes,    Christopher

Hi there -  he did both - he left Ireland to the US and then left the US at some point and went back to Ireland...times uncertain, but first departure from Ireland to US was somewhere around 1850!  thanks for responding!

Hei Pmint,

There's a chance John was born around the time of the Valuation of Armagh 1864.
If so George must have been living with Katherine and either both her parents or one of her parents.
