Using
www.familysearch.org.ukThere are 2 Caesar Johnston marriages in Scotland between 1790 and 1830 – both in Birsay Orkney. Both ‘extracted. Meaning they come from the official register and are not wishful thinking.
1. 15 Dec 1815 to Margaret Moar
2. 02 Feb 1826 to Catharine Johnston
Using the free search on the govt website
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk 1855 to 1900 there is only one Caeser Johnston (note spelling) or variant of these names dying in Scotland. He dies in Orkney in 1874.
1800 to 1855 I can’t find a death on the OPRs.

To use the IGI to search for all children born to the same parents go to:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true1. Enter father and mothers names in the 2 right hand boxes (sometimes best to have mothers first name only- in this case put Margaret Moar)
2. 'Event' select 'birth/christening'
3. 'Year' - select - type 'marriage year date if known '
4. 'Year range' - enter 1835 - '+ or - 20 years'
5. 'Region' enter 'British Isles'
6. Country - enter 'Scotland'
7. County – leave blank (assumes this is the county you’re searching in - or leave all counties)
* Press enter and up will come a list of over 30 names. You’ll find ‘submitted’ ones and ‘extracted’ ones
A site which comprehensively explains about batch numbers etc is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#PageTitleGive it a try - it's good for dates up to 1875. Always double check that the batch no. is the same for all of the children. Before 1855 you'll sometimes come up with only the father on an OPR - after 1855 you should have both parents always. There are also anomalies in that sometimes only children of one gender will show.....
Good luck.
Any problems - pleaase get back to me. Regards, Steve :O)
