Ellen Who??
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 05:42 GMT (UK) »
Here's a bit of an 1876 marriage PR from Quebec...blah blah John Brown and his wife Ellen Who? Looks like Dayon? Dargon? But those aren't names :P :P

I've included some surrounding text for comparison....any ideas?

Cheers,
China

That letter doesn't look much like the other f's does it? It's a weird one :P

Mind you, despite the sloppy handwriting I'm very grateful to that minister for bothering to record the parents of the groom. There was no regulation and most ministers didn't.

Thanks for your interest though :D

Yes, I'm over 50 and that is the running writing 'f' we were taught.

I still do my capital 'J' like the one there.

How about Dayson (also a real name, like Nick's below)?
