There is "a" Thomas Butterworth on the 1920 US census for Springfield, Summit, Ohio.

Butterworth, Thomas, Boarder, white, male, age 41, married, to USA in 1913.

A wife is not listed with him in the household.

Springfield had a significant Irish population in the 19th century (my own grandmother was born there).
