Hi Dave
There is "a" Thomas Butterworth on the 1920 US census for Springfield, Summit, Ohio.

Butterworth, Thomas, Boarder, white, male, age 41, married, to USA in 1913.

A wife is not listed with him in the household.

Is this what you were needing to find?
Bayley, Dorset, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire and others.
Antrobus, Somerset/Glouster
Skelton, Heslington, Yorkshire
James, Norfolk, and London
Delasalle, London area
Gravett/Grevet, Surrey
Also searching the above in Australia

Here's some things to check out concerning Springfield OH, maybe they will help you:

You might try the Clark Co OH obituary website:
http://guardian.ccpl.lib.oh.us/obits/

Springfield had a significant Irish population in the 19th century (my own grandmother was born there). As I understand it this is because it was the farthest west point of a national highway envisioned by Thomas Jefferson.  Many emigrants got that far, and stopped.  There's a fair amount of information on Georgeann Malowney's website: http://www.irishgenealogy.com
and I believe there is also a Clark County, OH historical society.

Cheers,
