WATTERS family
« on: Sunday 04 April 10 16:07 BST (UK) »
Would appreciate any help on the following family-

Alexander WATTERS (c1831 Belfast-15 Apr.1915) m.(1865 Co.Antrim) Margaret Gilmour (c1849 Belfast-aft.1915), daughter of James Gilmour & Catherine Gilmore.
I've found Alexander in directories 1877-1910 where his occupation is given as hay dealer, bus proprietor, horse dealer all at 41/43 Frank St.
He's at the same address in 1911 census with occupation given as retired hay merchant.
Alexander died 1915 and Will index lists him as 'gentleman.'
1911 census says wife Margaret had 5 children (3 living) and there's a grand-daughter Mary Kathleen Evans with them.
So far I've found 4 children:
1. Agnes Watter (25 Sept.1865 Belfast-aft.1911) m.(1888 Belfast) David Robb Kirkpatrick (c1862 Co.Down-aft.1911). Found in 1911 census.
2. Mary Catherine Watters (16 Aug.1867 Belfast).
3. James Alexander Watters (25 May 1869 Belfast).
4. John Watters (31 May 1871 Co.Antrim).

Would like to find marriage of Alexander Watters and Margaret Gilmour (not sure if it would have been in Belfast), name of 'missing' child, name of daughter who married ? Evans and any other information.

Hi aghhadowey.
Could this be the marriage you are seeking ?.

Brilliant- I do see a pattern here of moving from church to church for weddings  :-\

IGI lists a Marie Waters born 18 Nov.1874 Ireland, daughter of Alexander Waters and Margaret Gelmon (which might be Gilmore?)- civil reg. has birth for Maria Waters that might be her.

Hi aghadowey.
Found a "Charles J. Paul" family in the 1911 census at Howth Road, No 3 District, Clontarf West, Dublin, that may be your family.

Thanks to the marriage details I found Mary Catherine (Watters) Paul in 1911 census in Co. Dublin and sadly details of the family in cemetery records- 2 sons both died WWI.

Still finding more information after getting the marriage details posted here (thanks kingskerswell and DixieDee). Just to update original post-

'Missing' child was Marie/Maria Robina (d.1904) m.1898 John Seddons Evand. Mother's death would explain why daughter was living with grandparents in 1911.

Other child dead by 1911 was James Alexander who died 1871.

Mary Catherine/Kathleen's family (Pauls) already mentioned. Her daughter Dorothy seems to have married in 1933.

Only unaccounted for child is John (born 1871) who should have been alive in 1911 but had perhaps left Ireland.

Aghadowey,
A couple of loose ends. I could not find Charles Alexander Paul in the CWGC until I entered Alexander Charles and found him as a 2nd Lt.

Also a John Seddon Evans married Mary Harvey in St. Annes Church of Ireland, Belfast on 12 Nov 1906.
